So, you’ve recently published your book. YES!
Now comes the next step: getting it into the hands of readers.
Social media is one of the easiest and most effective ways to spread the word, and you don’t have to be an expert (or an influencer) to make it work for you.
The most important thing to remember is that social media isn’t just about selling—it’s about sharing. People connect with people. So let your audience in on your journey, your inspiration, and even the ups and downs that got you to this point. Here are a few simple, effective ways to start.
Share your journey – Talk about why you wrote the book, what you learned, or how it felt to hit “publish.” These personal moments help readers feel connected.
Post small snippets – Share quotes, mini-excerpts, or fun facts about your book or your characters (if fiction). These give people a quick taste of your writing style.
Use visuals – A good photo goes a long way. Snap pictures of your book, your writing space, or even yourself holding the first printed copy.
Go live or create short videos – A quick “thank you,” an update, or a behind-the-scenes look at your process can help build trust and excitement.
Engage with your audience – Ask questions, reply to comments, and celebrate anyone who reads or shares your book. Relationship > reach.
Paid Ads
Now, if you want to reach beyond your current audience, you might consider using paid ads. The good news is you don’t need a huge budget—just a clear goal and a few strong visuals.
Here are a few beginner-friendly paid ad options:
Facebook & Instagram ads – Great for targeting specific readers based on interests (like “romance novels” or “Christian living”) and behaviors (such as people who shop online or follow similar authors).
Boosted posts – If one of your organic posts performs well (lots of likes or shares), try boosting it to reach more people. Start small—$5 to $10 can go a long way.
YouTube pre-roll ads – If you have a short trailer or video intro to your book, consider running a short ad before videos that relate to your genre or topic.
TikTok Spark ads – If you're active on TikTok and create engaging videos, you can turn your best-performing content into an ad that shows up in users' For You feeds.
Before running any ads, think about what you want the ad to do—send people to your Amazon page? Grow your email list? Get sign-ups for a free chapter? Clear goals will help you get better results.
Remember, whether you're posting organically or running paid ads, the goal is the same: help people discover your book in a way that feels honest, helpful, and human. You’ve created something inspiring—now the fun part is helping others discover it.
